Speaking in a very simple language, the suspension stabilizer is nothing more than a rod in the suspension of the vehicle. This rod is very resilient and its shape is not accidental. Its elasticity is especially useful when screwing because it is mounted to moving elements guiding the wheel in a direct way or by means of connectors. Its main task is to increase the angular stiffness of a given axle, which directly translates into the limitation of lateral inclination of the body while driving.
It should be remembered that the stabilizer directly affects the safety. Thanks to his work, the tire is pressed to the ground, making it possible to use maximum grip.
An interesting fact is that most drivers find out about the problems with the stabilizer and its accessories by accident – usually during the review. The most common defects can include defective stabilizer connectors that need to be replaced. In the event of damage, we may feel the loss of stability, which directly affects the deterioration of safety. In this case, once the vehicle will behave in a normal way, and in a moment completely different – it is just a symptom of the occurrence of clearance on the stabilizer.
Types of stabilizers
The first type is a two-part stabilizer – or pounds ączany characterized by a two-part construction, wherein the elements are coupled together by means of an electrically controlled actuator. The work is carried out by reading the values from individual sensors. The effect of this is the independent operation of the wheels, and hence – the reaction from one wheel is not transferred to the other. When necessary, the stabilizer is activated and operates in a classical way. The second type is an active stabilizer, based on hydraulic cylinders connected to the ends of the stabilizer. The most common is a classic stabilizer, which is primarily characterized by low failure frequency.
