How to buy a new radiator

There is no more convenient way to buy new car parts than the possibility of using online auctions. In one place you can browse the offer of several thousand sellers and find the best product at an attractive price. No wonder then that an increasing number of drivers decide to buy these components for their cars in the network. In today’s guide, we’ll show you what parameters should be taken into account when buying a new radiator for the car.

The role of the radiator in the refrigeration system

During engine operation, as a result of combustion processes occurring in the cylinders and due to friction, a lot of heat is generated. The purpose of the cooling system is to drain its excess. In addition, it maintains the optimum operating temperature of the engine, which provides it with the best-operating conditions. The cooling system must also allow the engine to reach operating temperature as soon as possible.

The cooling system includes a whole range of components. This is a radiator, refrigerant piping, coolant expansion tank, radiator electric fan, thermostat, head connection, motor channels and coolant temperature sensor (as well as other sensors in more modern cars). The most important mechanical element of the system is a coolant pump driven by a timing belt or timing chain. It makes it cooler and moves the whole system ten to fifteen times a minute.

Let’s go to the radiator. It is placed at the front of the vehicle so that it can be cooled by the rush of air while driving. In jams and at very high temperatures, the cooler is cooled by an electric fan.

What can a radiator cool down?

Above all, leaks caused by corrosion or mechanical damage. In the past, coolers were repaired, usually subjected to soldering. Today, you do not do it anymore. The coolers are exchanged for new ones.

A leaky radiator causes the coolant to escape. Too little fluid in the system quickly leads to numerous problems such as overheating of the engine. And this, in turn, due to the loss of protective properties by engine oil (which provides adequate lubrication to a certain temperature), can lead to engine seizure.
